The Ginger Lady

While hiking in the hills on Maui, her grandfather wandered about picking fruits and plants for their family.
The weather was very pleasant and refreshing. The mountains were green with life and the air was cool. It was a lovely day for hiking. It seemed that nothing could go wrong.

All of sudden, her grandfather said that he was hearing a lovely singing sound. Then he asked Caroline if she could smell the sweet ginger coming from the cliffs. He became intoxicated by the fragrance of the ginger and began walking toward the scent. Suddenly he saw a beautiful woman who was calling him. Her smile filled him with desire and entranced, he began to walk quickly toward the ginger Lady's welcoming outstretched arms.

But as soon as he touched her, the ginger Lady disappeared. He found himself at the edge of the cliff about to fall to his death. Caroline was holding him from falling. The sweet smell of ginger faded as Caroline said to her grandfather how close he had been to death.
Once at home, Caroline told her grandmother the story of what had happened. Her grandma explained that it was the "Ginger Lady" who claims the lives of innocent men.

The moral of this legend is that falling into temptation can lead to danger.
